SAN ANTONIO (March 4, 2019) – Continuing its mission as an economic growth engine for new and existing Eastside businesses, local non-profit San Antonio for Growth on the Eastside (SAGE) announced three new SAGE Store-Front grants.

The SAGE Store-Front Grant Program provides qualified property owners an opportunity to improve their properties with grants that must be matched dollar-for-dollar and are available only to commercial property owners. Grants are awarded to commercial properties located within the Eastside Promise Zone, which are the boundaries for the SAGE service area.

“The SAGE Store-Front Grant program reignites pride within Eastside businesses,” said President and CEO of SAGE, Tuesdaé Knight. “By investing within our commercial property owners, SAGE fosters economic development, job growth, revitalization, and new opportunities for a thriving community.”

The deadline to submit applications for the next round of matching grants is Friday, June 11, 2019.

Store Front Grant Recipients:

Palm 91 and Hammond Lofts (1120 E. Commerce):

Mario and Sandra Serrano are the property owners of Palm 91 and Hammond Lofts, located at the corner of E. Commerce and 281N. Their hard work and heart has brought this historic corner back to life. Mr and Mrs. Serrano will utilize the awarded grant to replace and repaint her exterior balcony, repaint her exterior, install exterior lighting, and re-pave the parking lot. Set to open this Spring, Palm 91 is an innovative business for selfie-enthusiasts with themed backdrops and installations.

Sirrah Management, LLC (1441 S. W.W. White Rd.):

Sirrah Management, LLC is a woman-owned Real Estate Holding company, founded in 2015. President Monica Harris is also the owner of Accu-Aire Mechanical, LLC, an HVAC company with over 50 years in service. Through the assistance of the Store Front Grant, Sirrah Management, LLC will be able to secure their property with an efficient fence, which will provide safety and security to the property. The awarded grant will support Sirrah Management, LLC in doing their part in stimulating economic improvements and neighborhood communities.

Ross Hair Salon (2114 N Pan Am Expwy):

Ross Hair Salon, located on the access road of Interstate 35 N before New Braunfels Ave., was established in 1991 by owner Eva Saucedo. Ms. Saucedo is looking to replace and repaint broken wood railings, replace the rotted siding, and repaint the exterior of the building. Ross Hair Salon is requesting the assistance of the Store Front Grant to assist with renovations to enhance her the exterior of her salon and ensure her property is providing a lively space with excellent customer service.
